So I’ve mentioned on and off that I’m working on a children’s book. I finished it at the end of January and sent the manuscript to a few publishing companies since.
Yesterday, I received an email from MeeGenius, saying that they’d love to publish my book in their library of interactive ebooks ( the phrases “well-developed” and “extremely funny” may have been mentioned).
However, they’ve declined my illustrations, which is really understandable. The art style I’ve chosen to do Captain Spaceman in is hard to transfer into an interactive form.
Rather than shut down this tumblr and abandon the drawings and fanbase (you!) that I’ve built, MeeGenius and I have decided to make these in author concept sketches/drawings.
What does that mean?
It means that the Captain Spaceman drawings seen here aren’t affiliated with the illustrations seen in any books I have or may author in the MeeGenius app. They are concept, to help me build stories, experiment with the Spaceman Universe, and to give you a special insight to my process.
Does this change anything?
Absolutely not. I’m going to be keeping the same style I’ve been doing for two years now. What I post, it’ll stay the same. There might be some more fluidity between the separate illustrations seen on this blog, depending if I feel there’s a storyline to explore. But all in all, it’s going to be very familiar, to the point of being identical, to what I’ve been posting.
Will you still post your non-spaceman watercolors?
This is an exciting time. Things are changing while staying the same. The universe is constantly shifting while always being present.
If you’re interested in MeeGenius, you can find out more about them at their site or you can download their app, which is available both at the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
Thank all of you so much. Without the support and encouragement from all of you, I wouldn’t have been able to do this.
